Trend Report: Caped Crusader
The cape is here to stay ladies, so if it’s a look you’ve been considering now’s the time to invest! The cape comes in lots of different styles – The cape coat (Ala Amy Huberman below), the blazer cape – Perfect for a stylish take on a regular blazer for a dressed up look and the blanket cape (Think more poncho or oversized scarf looks). For this post I’m focusing on the cape coat and the blanket cape.
Lately we’re seeing the blanket cape really take centre stage in the style stakes, with lots of variety coming through in all the high street stores from New Look and Penneys to River Island, Topshop and Zara.
The now very recognisable Burberry cape which we’ve seen on countless celebs (the one with their initials on them), certainly has had its influence on the highstreet and we are seeing this influence trickle now.
I have to say I am huge fan of the look – Both the cape coat and the blanket cape. The blanket cape looks especially chic worn with ankle boots or knee high boots, some skinny jeans and a jumper or poloneck. It adds a stylish edge to a otherwise simple and casual look, plus it’s super cosy for this time of year!
The cape coat is the perfect wardrobe investment which will do you from now right into Spring. When I’m with personal shopping clients, the most common thing I hear is how to be stylish, yet practical and comfortable for everyday wear and for casual weekend wear… The cape is ideal for this!!
