Gold Fever Hair Extensions: FAQ

As most of you might know (especially if you follow me on Instagram) I have Gold Fever Hair Extensionsย in at the moment and I absolutely LOVE them.

I had my first set applied back at the end of March (read my post on those here) and they lasted nearly FIVE MONTHS!!! Yes, you read that correctly… nearly 5 months. Now, granted, by the time I did have them removed, they had grow out substantially (my hair grew incredibly fast though pregnancy), but they still looked good, even in the last few weeks.

This is how the looked towards the very end i.e. after 20 weeks in!!

The first time I had them put in I went for 16 inch length and so they were a little longer, this time I decided to opt for a slightly shorter look, as I mainly love the extensions for the added volume they give me. I have the flattest, straightest, most lank hair you can imagine, so I just love the volume and fullness the Gold Fever Hair Extensions give me.

IMG_7350I regularly get asked questions about my Gold Fever Hair Extensions so I thought the best thing to do was out together a FAQ on them. If you have any questions to add, please leave me a comment below and I’ll get back to you. Naomi xxx

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why do you get hair extensions?ย
As I mentioned, I have incredibly straight and lank hair. You basically can’t do anything with my hair, and it doesn’t really take a curl. Also I am one of those girls who has been growing my hair forever! I only ever reached shoulder length and then it would get bitty and tatty looking at the ends so I have always wanted extensions. I get them to give me some extra length (not much), and to give me added volume and fullness (and the ability to curl it)
Do you dye your hair and how do you get the extensions to match your hair colour?ย
At the moment I don’t have any colour in my hair, except some grown out highlights, I naturally have some blonde and red ish tones in my hair. No matter what your hair colour, Gold Fever can match it perfectly. That is probably the thing people would say to me the most, you actually cannot tell which is my hair and which is the extensions. They used a blend of three different colours to match my hair exactly. Also, another important thing to note is you can colour your hair no problem when you have Gold Fever hair extensions in.
What length are your Gold Fever Hair Extensions?
I have 16 inch hair extensions in at the moment, but I have had them cut a little shorter this time. The lengths available range from 10 inches to 22 inches, so whether you have very short hair and want a small bit of length or even just some volume or whether you want really long, luscious locks, Gold Fever can do it.
How much are they?
I really believe that when it comes to hair extensions, it is not an area to skimp on. You can spot bad extensions a mile off. If you are considering extensions, I really suggest saving up and going for the best available on the market and that in my opinion is Gold Fever. Yes, they are dear. But… You get what you pay for. If you look after your extensions you can get anything up to 4 or 5 months from them. Prices start at โ‚ฌ250 for volume alone. It is impossible to give an exact price, as everyone is different and it depends on what you want. Prices can range from โ‚ฌ250 to โ‚ฌ650 and more.

Do they require a lot of maintenance? And are they hard to manage?
Yes and no. To be honest, I am not one to spend ages on my hair, and I always thought managing extensions would be way harder. The truth is the better you take care of your extensions, the better they will look and the longer they will last.
1) Brushing: You need to brush them thoroughly a couple of times a day with a soft bristle brush, being careful not to damage the bond, but ensuring you brush out all matts and knots.
2) Washing: You need to wash them with sulphate free shampoo (there are loads available, I am currently using L’oreal Professional range, but Kersatase have sulphate free options too). I also use a heat protection spray. Other than that I don’t really use anything else on them. I wash, dry and style as you would your normal hair.
3) Styling: So, if I am feeling lazy, I just blast them dry without styling and then usually plait the ends before going to bed and then wake up with a nice curl (looks great then up in a pony tail). Sometimes, I use the straighteners to give them a sleek straight look, and then other times I use the Instylerย ย for loose curls/ waves or a curling wand for tighter curls.
I don’t wash my hair as often as I would pre hair extensions, they just look better for longer and to be honest don’t need to be washed as often, blast in some dry shampoo and you are good to go (Batiste is my fav). If you go for a blow dry what you will find is that you get AGES from a good blow dry, the extensions hold a style so well.
How long do they last?
As I said, it depends on how well you look after them. And off course, everyone is going to be different, but on average you will get at least 3/4 months from them.
What do the bonds looks like/ feel like?
They are surprisingly small, you won’t see them when you tie your hair back. If you have never had extensions before you might find it funny to touch your scalp at first but you get so used to it you barely notice that after a while. Everyone is always surprised how small the bonds are when I show them.
How long does it take to get them put in?
This will vary on the hairdresser I guess. But on average it takes about 3 hours.
How long doe sit take to get them removed?
Same as above, it might vary and also depends on how much you have in, but mine took about an hour and a half to remove them fully.
Do they ever fall out?
They won’t just randomly fall out if you are walking down the street, but towards the very end of my last set (i.e. after 5 months), a few started to fall out while brushing or styling them when; it was because they had grown out so much so they bond wasn’t able to hold it in place any longer.
Where is the hair sourced and it is ethical?
Yes.ย Gold Fever Hair Extensions exclusively use Indian Ritual Hair that is 100% Ethical & Traceable. They personally oversee exactly what they buy and how it is processed in their new bespoke facilities thus ensuring that only the highest quality product is brought to market. You can read more about that here
Are Gold Fever Hair Extensions safe during pregnancy?
Yes, yes and yes! I did ask this before I had my first set applied and they are 100% safe. I also spoke to the owner of Gold Fever Katie Jane Gold recently (who just recently had a gorgeous baby boy) and we were talking about how some people feel they have to wait until after their pregnancy. Well that is not true ladies, if anything, I have found them to be a great boost to my confidence during pregnancy. You don’t feel like yourself sometimes during pregnancy; your body is changing and expanding, dressing can be tricky and let;s face it, we can all feel a bit ugly at times, but having the extensions in really helped me because even if i wasn’t feeling too great, they always looked great; a definite confident booster!
Gold Fever have an excellent website and answer some FAQ’s also, as well as providing far more technical information which is very interesting to read. Head on over to their website to find out more: www.goldfever.com

Just wondering I know it has been asked already, but I have extremely fine limp hair, hairdresser recommended I get them but afraid as my hair is constantly falling out, it’s growing back but a vicious cycle all time, had been to hair clinic re hair loss. Do you recommend I get them done do they pull on the existing hair? I’m looking for volume just a fraction to give somewhat make hair look better and for hair regrowth to meet ends of my hair.

Hi, do these only last 5 months before you need a new set or need them maintaining? I had my old Remi catchets in for over a year and had them maintained every 3 months. X

Hi I’m got gold fever extensions after reading your recommendation, I love them but after a month nth they started falling out rapidly Daly and now about 6 weeks after application about three quarters have fallen out. I’m vie brushed, there are no tangles or knots, use sulphate free shampoo & colour, only wash once a week, have decent quality hair. Several strands brush out, some have just randomly fallen out. I’m very dis satisfied and disappointed as they cost me โ‚ฌ500.
I’m going to complain to Oslo where I had them done, just wondering what f you’ve had any similar feedback
