Christening Outfit Ideas

Hey ladies
I have gotten so many emails lately looking for some ideas on Christening outfits so I have been working on some looks – I’ve styled 6 looks in total, head to toe ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you like them and I hope it gives you some ideas.
It is such a tricky one, having had Anabelle Ivy’s christening on Saturday, I know the stress all too well. First of all there is NO TIME TO SHOP!!!!!!!! But in saying that, it’s probably one of your first big outings post-baby so you want to look your absolute best all while being mammy appropriate and comfy too.
Coupled with that lots of us are still feeling very body conscious post-baby and maybe want ย help (and some styling tricks) to conceal that mummy tummy as I like to call it!!! Plus if you are still breastfeeding you need a suitable outfit to make this easy. In a nutshell – It can be very tough finding the right outfit, trust me… I know!
On top of everything I left it all soooo last minute!! So please, don’t be like me – Get organised!! Lol ! Here’s what I ended up wearing; skirt & top both from Fran & Jane. I felt really happy in this – the skirt has a gorgeous cut and really sways when you walk, it was also super comfy, so no fussing, as let’s face it I spent most of the day holding Anabelle so I know more than anyone – Comfort is key!! The skirt is nice and high waisted so held me in where I am feeling most conscious. And the pink top, well, if you know me by now – I am pink fanatic ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย And we should all opt for the colours that suit us best, for example, red is horrendous on me so I never wear it. Know your colours and embrace them!

LOOK 1

This vibrant pink skirt is such a gorgeous colour and shape – worn high waisted with this loose cami top worn tucked in, it’s super flattering on. The cape is a really stylish addition and the faux fur clutch gives it a funky edge, finish it off with classic black courts and you are good to go. This is a great option for mammies who are breastfeeding.

LOOK 2

Do I need to even explain why I picked this dress? It’s stunning – the shape and cut is so flattering – really cinches you in at your smallest part – your waist. It’s so important to wear a dress like this with a cropped jacket, this one from Coast is ideal. Very Carrie Bradshaw ๐Ÿ˜‰

LOOK 3

I LOVE colour, and that was what drew to me to this chic off the shoulder number – What a vibrant shade. It would look gorgeous styled with gold. If the faux fur is too much for you, it would look great styled with a cropped white or cream, blazer too. And I am loving these gold & nude heels – A good investment for your summer wardrobe (Can we think that far ahead yet?)

LOOK 4

This is one of my favourite looks – This is STUNNING. I just love this skirt and top combo, and much like the outfit I bought, I like how you could wear each piece separately again. This skirt is nice and high waisted too, meaning it will conceal that lower jiggly part of the tummy we all have post-baby. The crop top won’t show any skin, it should just sit at the waist band of the skirt. This is a really glamorous look. Swoon…

LOOK 5

I am in love with this dress – again, it’s the colour! So rich; it would really suit dark haired ladies. This a-line shape is very slimming, by adding the gold belt it will really highlight your waist. I am also loving this camel coat (which is on sale), but you could opt for a shorter length cream blazer either.

LOOK 6

This is a more relaxed look yet is still super chic and another great option for breastfeeding mammies. This rust coloured suede skirt is so flattering – the wrap over and tie detail to one side make it really slimming and ideal for concealing any tummy lumps or bumps ๐Ÿ™‚ And as for these shoes? Wow! They give the entire outfit a really stylish edge.

COMMENTS
  • Great ideas for the different outfits. Knee high dresses seem to be the way to go for a christening.
