A Day at the Horseshow
Last Friday my husband Cormac and I were lucky enough to be invited to attend the FEI Nations Cup; the highlight, in my eyes, of the RDS Horse Show. It was an absolutely incredible day and for Team Ireland to win was really the icing on the cake.
The atmosphere at the RDS Horseshow and in particular for the Aga Khan/ FEI Nations Cup is always electric and this year was no different, it was spectacular. I come from an equestrian background myself, with my whole family bar me still working in the equestrian world. In fact, a little known fact about me, is that I actually competed in the RDS horseshow myself some years ago (my horse was called Valentino!!), while my brother Mervyn Clarke competes there almost every year. Even though my husband and I have a very keen interest in showjumping, I think, for the FEI Nations Cup, the whole country always gets behind Team Ireland and we all, if only for one afternoon, become showjumping enthusiasts.
Team Ireland this year was made up by some very young team members and some veterans with Bertram Allen, Darragh Kenny, Greg Broderick and Cian O’Connor making up the magic winning team this year.
Young or old, the RDS Horseshow is such a fun day out and something I highly recommend. I’ve been going since I was a child, but even if you don’t know anything about horses, it is such a fun event to attend!
Below is my adorable nephew Camryn (in the striped hoody) getting an autograph from Irish team member Bertram Allen.
When it comes to fashion at the RDS Horseshow, Ladies Day is always on the Thursday so it is always the most glamorous but in saying that, the Friday can still be quite a glamorous affair too. When it comes to the Equestrian/ Showjumping circuit, the RDS is probably among the most dressy of all the events, but in saying that, it’s a case of anything goes; you can be as dressed up or as casual as you like.
I opted for this navy & white maternity dress from Elora Maternity and navy wedges.
‘Til next time
