The Mammy Diaries: My Wardrobe Updates

Hey ladies
It has taken me a while to get around to doing another post in The Mammy Diaries segment; but things have been a bit hectic and stressful with us (to put it mildly). Anabelle Ivy has silent reflux and colic and it has been really really tough going – It is not something I want to get into on the blog or talk about publicly at the moment, so I’ll leave it at that and just say I am still here, although you hear very little from me at the moment, please stick with us. And hopefully all will be back to normal in the new year.
Heather is doing an amazing job of keeping your stylish eyes full of gorgeous style inspiration and I will blog when I can, but it is very hard to get around to it at the moment. So, bear with us ๐Ÿ™‚
So, back to fashion, (my little release of frivolity while Anabelle takes a rare nap) I’m not sure about you ladies but I went a little crazy on Black Friday!!! I think after having baby you are just so keen to ditch the maternity clothes and get back into normal stuff so you can start to feel like ‘you’ again… Or a new version of you. ย Plus the last couple of week of my pregnancy I became so uncomfortable that I was basically living in leggings. I felt my wardrobe needed a massive update. I have mainly been picking up casual pieces, as lets face it, I don’t have many (if any) nights out at the moment, so, stylish, but comfy casual wear has been one of my main focuses.

My Wardrobe Updates

new post

JEANS

Those of you who have been following me for a while now, know I am obsessed with ‘Molly’ jeans from River Island, in my opinion they are the perfect fit; ย so flattering, so comfy and I love the stretch in the fabric. They come in so many different styles from very high waisted to mid waist to skinny jeggings to wide leg. From last season, I have the black pairย (best black jeans you will find in my opinion and especially for that price!), the grey pair and some regular denim shades. These season, I added two more pairs to my collection;

KNITWEAR

My fail safe look the past few weeks has been great knitwear, skinny jeans and ankle boots – You can’t go wrong for winter with this look. For those of you who are post-baby and who are conscious of their tummies, chunky or loose fitting knits are a great option, as are longer length knits, until you are feeling more confident and want to get into some tighter fitting knitwear. I have always been a fan of Zara knitwear and have a good few polo necks and fine knit jumpers from them (they are the ones that they always have each season, see here).
Savida and Dunnes Stores also have some gorgeous knitwear this season. Dunnes currently have fabulous polo necks in a vast variety of shades that are great for this time of year and a lovely weight to layer over too, I picked up a bottle green polo neck and love it. Other key purchases have been:

SHOES/ BOOTS

My “go to” ankle boots are both River Island, tan and black. The tan ones seem to be sold out online at the moment ๐Ÿ™ ย (But you can get them in grey here) But I have included some similar options here. Both are SO comfy. I have also invested in some over-the-knee boots which I cannot wait to wear over Christmas.
If I am not in my ankle boots, (or Uggs or slippers…….) I am usually in plimsols or my gold glitter runners (go with absolutely everything)

I also have a leather mini skirt from River Island from last year that I love for winter, you can dress it down with cardigan, jumper or polo neck and wear with tights and black ankle boots or dress it up and wear it with heels and a top for a festive night out. River Island have a very similar one this year too, see it here.

Season after season the polo neck dress remains a style staple, I have some from previous seasons, you particularly can’t beat a black polo neck dress – Always looks great layered with a gilet or a bright scarf and a long length necklace. Here are my picks for this season:

OUTERWEAR

Time is running out and this little baba is due her feed so I’ll have to leave it on this note and get back to featuring some dressier looks for the next post. But I’ll finish on this FAB grey faux fur gilet I picked up (which also comes in black). It is so soft and so versatile worn over almost anything.

Thanks so much for the tip on the jeans! I just looked and they come in extra short which is perfect for this 5 foot gal. I’m looking forward to trying them after my pregnancy. Also with the river island boots, how comfy is comfy? like walk in the mall and run around with the kids all day comfy? I love the style but I’m not a huge heels gal. x

    Hi Noami
My little boy was born on the 3rd of October and at 6 weeks was diagnosed with silent reflux. It’s though going but he is on zantac now and seems to be helping. I hope Annabelle Ivy gets better, it’s horrible to see them in so much pain.

Our baby is 6 weeks old now and he had silent reflux too, we put gaviscon in every bottle and also brought him to a guy that does cranio sacked therapy and he is flying it now, we had three sessions and that and the gaviscon has worked for us… Give that therapy a try… Hope she gets better it is very hard I know… She will come thru it, hope this helps x

Hope you’re getting through it ok. My little guy turned one last week and we were flying it in the first few weeks until colic and reflux kicked in. One word Osteopath!!! I tried every medication/took every bit of advice on feeding methods etc but a couple of sessions and we were through the worst of it. He still has reflux now but the colic was the worst!

    Hi Naomi,
We were told our son had reflux, colic & anything else that goes along with that! He was suck after every single feed until he was 8 months old….including breast milk. He is severely allergic to dairy & we haven’t looked back since we changed his diet. Despite the negative opinions toward food intolerances our little boy is a different child….so it’s well worth looking into!
