My new hair from Gold Fever

So I got the chop ๐Ÿ˜‰
filterI have been feeling like a needed a change lately, it’s most likely a new mammy thing and feeling like I wanted to reinvent myself a little! Anyone else feel like that? I also went a little lighter, it’s hard to see properly here but there is loads of blonde underneath.

another bestThe funny thing is, before this, I have always wanted long, full, wavy hair since and my own hair just would never grow, plus it was so lank and fine and flat that I never got that full look I always wanted. In step, Gold Fever Hair Extensions ๐Ÿ™‚

I have had two sets of Gold Fever hair extensions so far and both times I went for the longer length (16 inch and 18 inch) well, until now that is……
The colour was my own and the extensions were matched perfectly to my colour (combining 3 different colours of Gold Fever) Read more about my journey with Gold Fever here and all the FAQ’s I get asked here. (Including maintenance, costs, how long it takes, how long they last etc)

What did I get done this time?

This time though I felt like I wanted a new look, something easier to mange (now I have Anabelle Ivy I don’t have much time for blow drying!!!). I wanted a sleek, sharp, long bob and this time instead of using the Gold Fever for length I have 12 inch extensions in to give shape and extra volume and I am so so thrilled with the result.

They give so much shape to the sharp cut – My own hair as I mentioned is very very lank and flat. That’s the thing with Gold Fever, which lots of people don’t realise, they are not just for length, you can use them even on very short hair for volume. Lengths start actually at 10 inch and go right down to 22 inch, so it all depends on your hair and the kind of look you want to achieve.

I was also feeling a little bored of my hair colour too – I haven’t had a colour in my hair for years! And although yes, that was so handy, and I did quite like the colour, I felt like going lighter! And I’ve talking about it for months (my poor husband!!!)

When I approached Brown Sugar in Blackrock about my colour change (they also did my extensions btw – Roy in there is amazing) I was very specific about what I wanted and more so, what I didn’t want. I didn’t want stripey highlights nor did I want an obvious ombre effect (i.e. I didn’t want it dark and then bright blonde at the end, well not in a really obvious way if that makes sense) and lastly I didn’t want to be able to see regrowth, yet I wanted to be lighter!! (I know, I am a nightmare customer eh!!) The colourist in Brown Sugar looked at me like I was crazy!!! Hahaha…. ย After some chatting and looking through photos we decided on what I should go for. And on their advice, we are taking it nice and slowly lightening my hair.
So it was a quite a long process (thank god I had my mum to babysit!!), first I had my long extensions removed and I have to say I was so so pleasantly surprised by what great condition my hair was in still. I had the extensions throughout my entire pregnancy so my hair had grown so much (way below my shoulders). Next, ย I had my hair cut and lastly my hair was coloured and then finally, this week (2 weeks later) the new extensions were applied.

The colour is a mix of highlights and ombre but all starting under the top tier of my hair, so that you will see no regrowth and gives a nice ‘beachy’ effect. There is much more colour underneath, so you can see the blonde tones coming through. The extensions I had put in are a mix of colours both my own brown colour plus a mix of blondes to add some extra blonde but without having to colour my own hair and so making sure my own hair doesn’t get any colour damage.

Hi Naomi! Your new do is gorgeous!! I used to have very long hair but went for the chop to a lob a few months ago. My hair, while much healthier, is still quite fine so I’ve been thinking of hair extensions to thicken and add volume. Are the extensions easy to maintain? I know they can be quite expensive so wondering whether they’re worth the cost?
