Black Tie On A Budget

Having only just recently attended my first Black Tie event I know all to well about the excitement (quickly followed by panic) which is associated with attending such a glam affair. Of course the first thought for all us ladies is ‘What to wear”? This will be swiftly followed by “How much is it going to cost”?

Fear not, because from my experience you don’t need to break the bank to ‘WOW’ at that next Black Tie event. Check out all my top tips and outfit ideas below!

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" - World Premiere - Red Carpet ArrivalsTop Tips

1. Borrow from your Bestie

If like most girls you don’t feel like wearing that one gown you own for the second or *gasp* third time, then how about loaning one from your friend! It feels brand new to you plus it means you only need to spend a small amount of money accessorising the dress to your own taste.

2. Keep your eye on the Highstreet

Formal dresses don’t need to break the bank. Keep in mind “Less Is More” when looking for a bargain piece. ย Check out all the highstreet stores for some great options.

3. Go to New Lengths

Attending a Black Tie event doesn’t mean you have to follow the traditional full length style. Short and Midi-length dresses can be just as glamorous. Shorter length dresses are also more versatile so you’ll get lots more opportunities to wear your new purchase in the future.

4. Accessorise

Pop on a statement necklace (View our own range here), stack up some glitzy bangles or try out some fun hair accessories to really give your look a fashion forward & totally stylish look!

5. Customise

If like me, you are blessed with having shorter than average length legs then you will be all too familiar with the services offered by local alteration shops. So, let’s face it we all have aย dress stowed away in the back of the wardrobe, destined never see the light of day again. How about giving that dress a new lease of life? Getting the local alterations shop to change the length, createย sleeves or add embellishments will allow you to not only save money on buying a new dressย but will also end that age old fear of turning up in the same dress as someone else.
Here are a selection of Black Tie looks I have created which won’t break the bank!
